Broccoli Thumbuli
SERVINGS: 1 cup
TOTAL TIME: 15 minutes


INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup chopped Broccoli ( variation – ridge gourd, padwal, methi leaves, spinach )
1/2 cup Buttermilk
1/8 cup of coconut
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp toasted cumin seeds
1 medium clove of garlic ( optional)
salt to taste

Tempering:
1 tsp mustard seeds
2-4 curry leaves chopped
1 red chilly
A pinch of asafetida


DIRECTIONS:

Toast cumin seeds for few mins and add Broccoli and stir fry for couple of minutes.
Grind all the ingredients in a blender. Dilute with a small amount of water if necessary.
Warm ghee, add mustard/curry leaves/red chilies, asafetida, when mustard splutters, add to thumbuli.

Serve as a side dish with rice.

This is a variation of the popular Udupi yogurt side called Thumbuli. Tastes great with rice.
